I have always said that woodworking has really evolved.  In my humble opinion there has always been some “old school” woodworkers and there are “new schoolers” too.  I have some relatives that build kind of the old school standards, like paper towel holders and scounces.  This bores me to death to be quite honest.  I say if your going to be in the shop, make something that works for you.

This months deal is from Rockler, and its pretty cool because its useful.  Yeah I know there is still snow on the ground in most places, but hey that is when you get some good shop time.  A nice barbeque set really is very helpful when you are in the battle of the coals and raw meat.  This one I really like since it gives you a lot of the tools you really need and you get to brag about making the handles and take all the credit.  Having the ability to download the plan for free is a great thing too.  I can easily drop $50 on a decent set of barbeque tools so the $15 for the hardware is pretty slick.

Here are some coupon deals that can help save a little cash .

Tool King has a free shipping promotion if you spend more than a $100.  Considering the fact that it is pretty easy to spend a hundred bucks, it does help to have free shipping.  The code is “holdiay” and you type it into the shopping cart at check out.

Router Table Depot has a beefier discount if you are looking for a new router table.  If you buy a large table or a bench top table you can get an accessory kit for free.  I checked it out and its not some cheesy stuff either.  Either they have a surplus or some deep pockets, but it is definetly a good deal.  If you buy a bench top sized table you get a $85 kit for free, and the large one is worth $102.  Pretty cool.  Type in “benchbundle” for benchtop sized router tables and “largebundle” for the bigger tables.  Scratch n dent models do not qualify for this purchase.

Jamestown Distributors has free shipping on orders over $99 as well.  The power tools they carry are the higher quality Fein and Festool brands.  If you are looking to spend some cash the extra shipping can be helpful.

Well its that time of year again and you may be shopping for yourself or that special woodworker on your list.  I had an interesting talk with the folks at Bench Dog last week and they have told me about their latest promotion that they are having.  If you did not see it, they have a 2 page spread in American Woodworker Magazine.  They are promoting the Bench Dog 40-200 router table and the Bench Dog 40-150 Pro Lift.  These are both excellent woodworking tools.  So what would make them better in my book?  Cash back. Bench Dog 40-200

This is a solid table that is capable of doing any router table chore you have in mind.  Keep in mind this table is solid phenolic and has a solid steel stand.  Bench Dog also requires you to buy your insert seperate now, so make sure you do not forget.  The fence comes with it and is a split fence design.  We have done a review of this table and your can find that previous review here for more information.

Bench Dog 40-150 Router Lift

This is a solid lift made specially for Bench Dog tables.  You can put a variety of routers onto the lift, so make sure you have the correct adaptor for your router.  It comes standard issue for the Porter Cable 7518 Router.

I found a nice contest over at the Router Table Depot.  They are giving away a 50 router bit set for joining their newsletter.  I thought this was one of those “no brainer” things since their newsletter gives out sales information, tips and coupon codes.  Considering the holidays are here, the chances of winning are way better than the lotto.  The 50 Piece set is nice too, 1/4″ carbide tipped and comes with the cabinet.  They even pay the shipping.  The drawing is on the 26th of November.
